Swim with Dolphins and Make a Lifelong Connection
Nothing can quite prepare you for that awe-inspiring moment when you realize you've made a genuine connection with our dolphins. You feel it, and you can tell they feel it, too. Our hope is that the connection you create with our resident dolphins inspires you to help support their wild counterparts and conserve their marine habitat.
As DPMMR is a Non-Profit organization, a portion of every dolphin swim at DPMMR in Key Largo goes directly to our stranding rescue team for wild and injured whales and dolphins.

In our flagship program, your personalized swim experience is tailored to you and the dolphins as our trainers guide you through a series of interactions designed to create a meaningful connection with the dolphin. Following an educational briefing, you’ll meet up with your private trainer to plan your custom session where you can choose from a slower paced program, high energy behaviors, or a combination of both. Based on your wishes and the individual dolphins you are working with, you might feel the heartbeat of the dolphin, gaze into their eyes, listen to their vocalizations, hug and hold the animal, feel their skin, swim side-by-side or allow them to showcase their speed as you lay heart to heart for a belly ride. Due to the personalized nature of this program, the unique guided style of each trainer, and the individual personalities of each of our dolphins, no two Connect to Protect programs will ever be the same. To protect the magic of this program, the program is not timed but rather based on the number of behaviors.
You don’t need to be a swimmer to enjoy this exhilarating experience. Splash and Wade is an interaction that lets you meet our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins up close and personal, while standing comfortably in waist-deep water. After an informative briefing you’ll be fitted with a flotation vest and stand on a platform that submerges to about 3 feet deep in our natural, ocean-water lagoon. Our dolphins will come to you for interactive behaviors like body rubs, handshakes or photo ops. This program is fun and easy for young and young at heart alike!
For the safety of the dolphins, we are unable to allow any loose fitting clothing or swimsuits, including skirts, in the water for this program.
Our NEW Splash & Swim program is a comfortable blend of our two most popular programs, the Interactive Swim, and the Splash & Wade. This program is perfect for families with children of varying ages, as well as those guests that prefer to ease into a deep- water experience. Your program will begin in our ocean-water lagoon on a platform in waist-deep water. Our trainers will ask our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins to meet you through a series of behaviors such as back rubs, belly rubs, or a handshake. Next, you will have the option to step off the platform into the dolphins’ world of deeper water to experience two additional behaviors. If you are comfortable, one of these behaviors can be a high energy behavior such as a dorsal tow, belly ride, or foot push. If you prefer, you are welcome to remain on the platform for your additional dolphin interactions.
For the safety of the dolphins, we are unable to allow any loose fitting clothing or swimsuits, including skirts, in the water for this program.
Discover Dolphins in our exciting dockside program. You'll meet a trainer on a floating platform and enjoy a fun meet-and-greet with one of our dolphins! During this program, a trainer will guide you through a set of behaviors centered around introducing you to your new flippered friend. Guests might expect to give the dolphin a back rub and try out their own training skills by giving the dolphins some hand signals. For children age 4 or under, an accompanying adult may assist the child on the platform with the program.
Photographers are on hand to capture each moment and all participants will take home a complimentary photo of their interaction.
NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all program participants will be required to wear a mask for the duration of the program and guests and trainers are not permitted to kiss the dolphin. Alternative behaviors to the kiss have been arranged.
